Tuition, Add/Drop & Refund Information: 2013-14

Can an adult student who has other financial responsibilities afford a Whitworth University education? Yes! With Whitworth's discounted tuition for its evening bachelor's degree programs, a highly regarded private university education is within reach.

Tuition for the 2013-14 Academic Year
The good news: For all accelerated-format classes, tuition includes all books and course materials, as well as related fees. Books and other materials are delivered to you on your first night of class, too!

Several payment options are available at Whitworth, including monthly payment plans, payment by credit card, financial aid, and employer reimbursement. Some payment options are dependent upon how many credits a student takes each semester. For more information go to Whitworth student accounting services.

Financial Aid is available for adult students; full-time and part-time students may qualify. Visit the university's financial aid page for more information about financial aid for adult undergraduate-degree programs.

Employer Tuition-Benefit Program
If you have tuition benefits through your place of employment, Whitworth will accept payment when your company pays, usually at the end of the term.  All you need is a letter from your employer that states the reimbursement policy.  Take that letter to the student accounts office and sign a promissory note.  If your company reimburses only part of your tuition, we will bill it for the amount it pays if you ask us to; the balance is due upon registration. 

Your only obligation during the semester is to either pay the finance charges that will accrue each month or sign up for our Employer Payment Plan.  For only $50 per semester, we will waive all service charges completely.  Call 509.777.3209 for more information or contact Whitworth student accounting services.

Add/Drop Policy
The deadline to add an accelerated-format course is the day of the first class meeting. After the eighth calendar day of the session, any course that is dropped will be recorded on the student’s transcript and an appropriate withdraw grade will be assigned.

Please remember it is your responsibility to let an instructor know in advance if you are not going to be able to attend a class. If you stop attending a course but do not contact your advisor about dropping the course, you will receive a grade of "WW" for that course, which will be reflected in your GPA as an "F".

Tuition Refund Policy
All refunds must be claimed through proper application to Whitworth Student Accounting Services. A student who officially withdraws from an accelerated-format class after it has begun is eligible for an adjustment of charges as follows:

*Refund policy is tied to the first Monday of each six-week session. For example, if your session runs May 7-June 15, you have until 6 p.m. on Monday, May 14, to receive a 100-percent refund.

Textbook Refund Policy

If you receive a 100-percent refund and have taken possession of the books for the course, you will be responsible for paying back the cost of the books. You will not be charged for the books if you return them immediately to the Whitworth Continuing Studies Office in new condition (as determined by the bookstore). Books not returned in new condition by Friday of the second week of class will be charged to your student account and will no longer be accepted for return.
