Teaching is Peggy's passion, and reading is life! Over 35 years of experience as a classroom teacher (K-8), consultant, and university professor has provided Peggy with continual opportunities to learn from students. Her specialties are language acquisition and literacy, children's and young-people's literature, and exploring authentic assessment for both the learner and the teacher. Peggy instructs courses in literature, language and reading literacy, and curriculum methods, along with coordinating the elementary components within the Whitworth Master in Teaching Program. You are invited to come over to Dixon and share a good book, or check out what is best and most current in young people's literature! This particular Thoreau quote is at the heart of Peggy's personal philosophy concerning learners and teaching:

If a man does not keep pace with his companions,
Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer;
Let him step to the music which he hears,
However measured or far away.
