How has Whitworth’s program helped prepare you to be a principal?

The Educational Administration Program has given me a greater awareness of the whole educational system. The program has provided me the background research on effective school systems and effective teaching practices. It has also prepared me to be a principal through relevant coursework and its internship experience. In-depth studies of characteristics of successful schools and successful school leaders has helped me identify effective frameworks to use as a measurement of success in my future school.

What is unique about Whitworth’s Educational Administration Program?

The program is true academia, with small class-size, engaging discussions, and students guiding each other through the learning process. The seminars are structured so that classmates bring a wide variety of experience, skills, and knowledge to the classroom. In essence, the program is designed to model the importance of collaboration, which is a crucial component of school improvement.

Do you have any advice for other adults considering administration?

I highly recommend Whitworth's Educational Administration Program for anyone who seeks to broaden his or her awareness of the complete education system. Each Whitworth employee I have encountered has shown sincere interest and pride in being a part of my educational success. Whether you plan on becoming an administrator or not, this program will help improve your teaching, give you a broader understanding of education, and prepare you to be an educational leader in and outside the classroom.

Whitworth's mission is to provide its diverse student body an education of mind and heart, equipping its graduates to honor God, follow Christ, and serve humanity.
