| Master in Teaching: Admission Requirements |
The Master in Teaching Program has the
following admission requirements:
- Willingness to embrace the mission of the School of Education.
- Willingness and commitment to learning in a cohort.
- Evidence of successful work with children or youth.
- Bachelor's degree in an approved endorsement area.
- Undergraduate grade point average of 3.00. Graduate coursework and/or
work history may also be considered.
- $35 application fee.
- Basic Skills Test: West-B (www.west.nesinc.com
to register online). There are three sections to this test. All three
sections must be passed by the end of fall term (December) for full
admission.
- Content Knowledge Test West-E/Praxis II (www.ets.org/praxis) .
- Submit three letters of recommendation. Letters should be directly
sent to:

- Submission of the Character and Fitness Supplement.
- Submission of a writing sample. This sample is to be two to three
pages in length. Candidates are asked to explain why they want to teach,
what dispositions (personality traits) they have that are compatible
with effective teaching, and why they are selecting the MIT program
at Whitworth University for their professional preparation.
- Be interviewed by the MIT faculty.
- A positive recommendation by the MIT faculty following the interview.
- Completed application packet to the MIT office.
