The application deadline for Whitworth's Master in Teaching Program is April 1 unless program capacity has been reached. It is recommended that application materials be submitted as soon as possible. We may consider strong applications after April 1 if space allows.
Admission requirements:
Willingness to embrace the vision of the MIT program
Evidence of successful work with children or youth
Bachelor's degree in an approved endorsement area
GPA of 3.00 for the last half of college. Graduate coursework and/or work history will be considered

Three letters of recommendation sent directly to: Graduate Admissions,

one letter from a college professor within your major if you have graduated within the last three years;
one letter demonstrating successful work with children or youth;
a letter that speaks to your general character and possibility of success as a teacher/graduate student
Submission of the Character and Fitness Supplement
A written two-to three-page statement on why the candidate has chosen teaching as a profession and why has the MIT program at Whitworth University been selected for professional preparation
Official transcript from all colleges/universities attended sent to graduate admissions
Résumé
An interview with the MIT faculty to be scheduled by the Assistant Director, Brian Davenport
A positive recommendation from the MIT faculty following the interview
Completed application packet to the Master in Teaching office
Please note, the WEST-B and WEST-E must be taken prior to beginning the MIT program. The WEST-B must be passed by the end of the first summer term and the WEST-E must be passed by the end of fall term. Failure to take either test before the program starts, or to pass either test by the stated deadline, may result in removal from the program.
