The TWS contains 10 standards. The first three are clustered together. They are more conceptual in nature and should be considered foundational underpinnings that will be revisited and infused during the development of the TWS. Standards four through nine are community and teaching processes that have been identified by research as fundamental aspects to either know about or practice if a teacher wants to improve student learning. Standard ten focuses on the teacher candidate's reflections of his or her teaching practices and students' learning. These reflections form the basis from which decisions are made for future professional development. Each standard contains the following: (A) TWS Standard; (B) the Task; (C) a Prompt; (D) a Scoring Rubric; and (E) Definition of Terms. Please note that all TWS Standards assess writing traits and writing mechanics. The standards and scoring rubrics will be used by the MIT faculty to evaluate your TWS. The prompts (or directions) help you document the extent to which you have met each standard. Back to School of Education Home Page >> Master in Teaching >> |
