Whitworth University Kinesiology & Athletics
The Whitworth Department of Kinesiology & Athletics offers two majors and provides both a theoretical and practical educational experience for future teachers, coaches and athletic trainers.
The health, fitness and physical education major provides two distinct tracks. A teaching track prepares students to teach/coach in public or private schools, while a non-teaching track prepares students for health, fitness and physical-education-related career opportunities. Students in the teaching track also meet one of the education certifications (elementary, K-8 or secondary certification).
The athletic training major prepares students for the profession of athletic training. The program is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) and prepares students for certification by the Board of Certification (BOC). The athletic training education program is closely aligned with the Whitworth School of Education in order to prepare teachers/athletic trainers to address the unique healthcare needs of today's secondary-school athletes. |
