Musical training provides cultural and artistic expression and prepares students for careers in music performance, teaching, composition, church music, and arts administration. Musicians also pursue careers in music therapy, production and recording, media and sales, instrument retailing, artist management, and publishing. Most full-time music teaching positions are found in public and private schools and musical conservatories. Music performers can assemble their own acts, either as soloists or members of groups, or can seek positions in established orchestras, choirs, bands, and other ensembles. The music-publishing industry employs songwriters, editors, copyists, critics, and representatives -- all of whom must be knowledgeable about music. Back to Music Home Page >> |
