Students will travel to one of the following destinations: France, Guadeloupe, Quebec (May 2014). Québec’s motto is Je me souviens – I remember – and here you will form your own wonderful memories. You will have the opportunity to take French language courses at your personalized level in an immersion environment; to have a homestay and two meals a day with French-speaking Québecois families; to participate in a volunteer service-learning program in Québec city with other French-speaking Québecois volunteers; to learn about French-Canadian culture, history, and politics; to explore the only North American fortified city north of Mexico; to go to museums and festivals, and to experience how French-speaking culture has developed outside of France. You’ll learn about how France has shaped Canadian language, religion, and history, and what kind of impression Canada has made in return.
