Hello again! Well, since the last time I wrote for the travelogue, there
have been many new experiences. We left Sydney and are currently in Adelaide,
staying with host families, although we are leaving tomorrow to visit
Kangaroo Island.
Our host families here in Adelaide are just amazing people. They are
so sweet and take such great care of us. Courtney, Whitney and I have
had the pleasure of staying with the Dodsworths, a very generous couple
who have opened up their house to us American college girls. We've seen
all kinds of things, from the governor's house, to museums, to a chicken
processing factory, to beaches, to wineries, and on and on.
I don't know if I have a favorite place in Adelaide. They have all be
wonderful. The governor's house was beautiful and classic, the museums
were so educational, the chicken processing factory...hmmm, amusing and
quite interesting actually. And the beaches and wineries have just been
so beautiful and relaxing.
The weather has been pretty good here, not the smouldering heat that
we had expected, but some sunny days as well as some rain, which was surprising.
Adelaide is such a beautiful city. It's about the size of Spokane, Wash.,
but with a larger population.
Today, we all went to Petaluma Wineries, which was gorgeous. We found out exactly how wine is made, as well as the different tastes of the many varieties. Tomorrow, we are getting up bright and early to catch a ferry. It's so sad that this is our last night with our host families. It has been such a blessing to have actual homes to come back to every single day.
