Gulf Coast Study Program Travelogue: Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2006

Kathryn
Today we were helping a man named Bill from Gulfport, Miss. He paid for his roof because he wanted his money to go to help others, but he also needed a new roof. When we got there in the morning he said he felt as if he was on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. His life has been pretty hard, he has been divorced and his ex-wife took his children away. His mom is a "lady of leisure," and doesn't have time for him. I could tell he was in need of and hungry for love. He has decided to leave Mississippi. He's been through five big hurricanes in his life and has decided it's time to move on. He is the first person I've met who isn't going to rebuild. I'm glad that we were able to help him.

The group helped Forest (center) rebuild his roof.
