Gulf Coast Study Program Travelogue: Friday, Jan. 6, 2006

Dan
There is a different kind of cold here, a cold that swiftly sweeps into your clothes, then onto your skin, and then finally resides into your bones, a moisture cold. I personally did not expect to be so cold today, but the day is coming to a close and now it's time to warm up. We drove and worked at a job site today. What an eye opener. We looked destruction in the face while driving along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. There is nothing like it. Pictures and newscasts do not give the extent of the devastation enough credit. These people have lost everything. They are living in tents and trailers on their front lawns. They've been in this condition for months now.

The group replaces a roof.
Lorin and Sharon remove shingles
from our first roofing project.
