Our amazing program in Hawai’i has been nothing short of spectacular so far. We are experiencing things that we could have never seen if we were not in this beautiful place. Each morning there is a shower of rain that cleanses the air and each of our spirits, however what is great about the rain is that it is warm enough to be in and not be cold.
In the last few days we have hiked to places that are unimaginable. The longest hike so far was to the Kilauea lava flow where we set out to see real lava in action. After many hours of hiking we were able to find a bit of what we were looking for.
We returned home tired and ready to sleep after a long trek for lava.
Our latest adventure required 4-wheel drive and lots of picture-taking when we ventured to Waipi’o Valley. Here we learned about taro farming and what the valley had to offer all of those who visited it. Here is where we witnessed spectacular waterfalls and streams. We ventured to a black sand beach were we played in the surf. We closed out the day with a lecture on the beach in our swimsuits and journeyed home.
We would like to feature Hawai’i students Jeremiah and Luke.
Jeremiah is a senior marketing student from Puyallup WA. He has enjoyed playing in waterfalls and is looking forward to going to the space observatory. When class is not in session here in Hawai’i he enjoys snorkeling at the beach and looking at the fish.
Luke is a freshman International Business major from Arlington WA. He has enjoyed the long hike to lava the most and looks forward to studying the reefs in Kona. Luke also enjoys snorkeling in his free time and looks forward to investigating the underwater life around the island.
Life in Hawai’i has been fun and we are all glad we are here, the hands on learning is good, but were we are is great. Aloha!
God Bless from Hawai’i,
Hillman’s Hawaiian Poss
