This online travelogue offers photographs and student reflections of the Ireland/Wales CS Study Program, a multi-faceted and innovative off-campus study program.  Several times a week students will submit images and insights from their experiences and study.  The program is led by Susan Mabry, Ph.D., and draws upon her experience in computer science, business management and international economies.

Computer science (CS) and information technology (IT) are global disciplines.  IT plays a significant role in exciting new economies in both Ireland and Wales.  This program is a fascinating and provocative study of technology and business, as well as a rich cultural experience.

There are four thrusts:

1. CS research and IT in a modern context of both academia and industry of Ireland and Wales

2. The role of CS and IT in those modern cultures and economies

3.  Intriguing historical and church influences on the cultures

4.  Study of international technology project management with strong integration of all these influences

These thrusts will play out in the form of:  university exchanges (University of Wales at Aberystwyth and National University of Ireland at Galway), business seminars at industrial facilities, church fellowship, coursework and touring.  The coursework includes cultural explorations and responses in venues from large cities to quaint villages, lectures and assignments on international technology management and a cumulative final business plan for a project integrating the technology, business and culture of a selected site in Ireland or Wales.   Wales and Ireland are both countries of rugged history and dramatic natural beauty.  We will experience their vibrant cultures, strong Celtic roots and rich Christian heritage.
