Research & Internships

Each summer, Whitworth students have the opportunity to travel around the country – or they may choose to stay at Whitworth. Either way, they pursue unique research opportunities in the field of physics. These research opportunities are more often than not fully funded grants or fellowships providing a stipend along with room & board. Twice in the last three years, a Whitworth physics student has received the highest award for undergraduate-student achievement in the sciences, the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship. Most Goldwater Scholars go on to Ph.D. programs where they continue to receive prestigious scholarships and fellowships for their graduate study.

Whitworth students have participated in summer research at the following locations in the past three years:

  • NASA
  • Los Alamos National Laboratory
  • Harvard University
  • Princeton University
  • Stanford University
  • Columbia University
  • Duke University
  • Whitworth University
