The third lecture of the series will feature Rafi Samizay, who will lecture on "South Asia: Focus on Afghanistan." The lecture will take place Thursday, February 28, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Music Building Recital Hall at Whitworth University. The lecture is free and open to the public. The lecture series background book, Great Decisions 2002, is available at the Whitworth Bookstore. For more information, please call (509) 777-3270.

Samizay served as chair of the Department of Architecture at Kabul University. He fled Afghanistan in 1981 after realizing that his education, his influence on students, and his politics might cost him his life. He left behind friends, building projects, and a country rich with culture, history and architecture. Samizay served as director of the School of Architecture and Construction Management at Washington State University, and currently serves as professor in the School of Architecture at WSU.
