OverviewThe term "personality" is used every day by people seeking to explain their own or others' behavior, but few people understand what this mysterious thing called "personality" is really all about. This course blends theory, research, and personal application to investigate both who we are, and why we are who we are, as individuals and members of society. In short, it is a course about human nature, presented from a uniquely psychological perspective. It also provides the necessary foundation for understanding the various approaches to treating psychological problems and facilitating healthy development that are important to psychology as a whole. This website is designed to facilitate an "investigation" of personality in the context of an upper-division Theories of Personality course. Its basic features include a "dossier" of general course information and various "clues" regarding internet resources. A special feature is a series of "PersonaQuest" exercises designed to engage you as a "personality detective", hot on the trail of information regarding personality theorists, research, and your own unique personality.
