Masks.jpg (5935 bytes) True, whoever looks into the mirror of the water will see first of all his own face.  Whoever goes to himself risks a confrontation with himself.  The mirror does not flatter, it faithfully shows whatever looks into it; namely, the face we never show to the world because we cover it with the persona, the mask of the actor.  But the mirror lies behind the mask and shows the true face.

PersonaQuest Detective Agency

Welcome to the PersonaQuest Detective Agency.  As a new member of our staff, you have been assigned a caseload of six mysteries that require your finely honed skills of detection, observation, and critical thinking for their solution.  Each solution is to be provided in the designated format to your supervisor, T. Schmautz or N. Wiersma, Ph.D. (or "Personality Head Detective") no later than the time of the "staff meeting" scheduled for each unit (see Course Schedule).  Of course, you may find yourself seized by the thrill of the hunt and choose to solve the cases early.  Please feel free to consult with your supervisor (T. Schmautz or N. Wiersma, Ph.D.) should you feel stymied by a case.   You may also consult with fellow detectives in the agency (a.k.a. classmates), but these quests offer enough latitude for exploration that your final report should NOT duplicate someone else's work.

To work on these cases, you need access to the internet.  The more sophisticated the computer, the more intriguing investigations you will be able to do.  You are welcome to use the computers in the Psychology Department Lab as well as personal or other campus computers.

NOTE:  You may wish to choose an "alias" (e.g., Ima Spy, Nancy Drew II, etc.) and to submit your reports to your supervisor using that name.  If you choose to do so, please e-mail your desired alias to your supervisor, and you will receive a note of confirmation clearing you to use that pseudonym.
