Calvin Jurich, '09

Major: Accounting

Current Position: Technical producer in the Global Digital Commerce Division at Nike, Inc. Jurich's main focus is to help create and maintain the Nikestore.com website so that it provides consumers with optimum online shopping experiences.

Why Whitworth? "I was recruited to Whitworth to play basketball. However, what really made my decision easy was the friendliness of the Whitworth community and the beautiful campus surroundings. I felt at home."

Whitworth Activities: Member of the men's varsity basketball team, which made it to the national tournament three straight seasons, including a trip to the Sweet Sixteen.

Quote: "A Whitworth education is not only about books and studying, but about equipping students to succeed in life. The professors do a tremendous job using life-like scenarios as part of their teaching, so that you can be prepared to enter the work force ahead of your competition."

Influential Whitworth Professor: "Brad Sago, who is a marketing professor and was my faculty advisor, had a huge influence on my career choice. Dr. Sago was so passionate about marketing and what he believed in. He taught me to seek out a career that I enjoyed and that involved my interests. That was one of the main reasons I ended up working at Nike."

Career Goals: "Whitworth helps prepare its students to succeed by helping them home in on multiple skill sets; this has helped me with my long-term goals."
