Margie LaShaw

Margie LaShaw came to Whitworth University in fall 1988. She is currently A.B.D. for her doctorate in business administration with a major in accounting at Anderson University. She earned her Masters in Accounting from Washington State University in 1988. She also holds a B.S. in Business from the University of Idaho and is a licensed C.P.A. in Washington State.

Margie's professional experience before coming to Whitworth was in public accounting where she primarily worked on audit staffs but also spent some time in tax departments.

Margie's primary teaching assignments are in the financial accounting courses, both the introduction and intermediate levels, but also ventures into other business areas. Her interest in research lies in the teaching of accounting, church financial reporting and nonprofit accounting issues, along with interdisciplinary applications of courses. She is a member of the American Accounting Association, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Women's Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and Washington Society of CPAs, where she is involved in the statewide committee for Accounting Careers and Development.

To help her obtain practical experience to apply in the classroom, she assists her husband on the management and operation of a farm in Eastern Washington. Many of her interests lie in farming issues and the ability to maintain the family farm into the 21st century. She is also involved in Washington Women for Agriculture whose mission is to educate others on farm issues.
