Personal Page: Doug Laher

Doug Laher started teaching at Whitworth in January 2000 as an adjunct professor. He became a full-time faculty member in spring 2001. He brings with him a broad teaching background with courses that include finance, entrepreneurship, business strategy, operations, human resource management, and economics. He holds a master of international business degree from Regis University, Denver, Colo., and a B.A. in finance from the University of Wisconsin.

Doug is currently completing his doctorate of business administration in finance at Anderson University. His research is focused on the alleviation of poverty through Christian microenterprise development.

Professor Laher's professional experience consists of teaching at various educational institutions in Colorado and Washington, human-resource development in the banking industry, and financial management in the high-tech and healthcare industries. He is president of Laher & Associates, a consulting firm specializing in financial, educational, operational, and Christian microenterprise development planning/strategies for individuals, businesses, and non-profit organizations.

He and his wife, Teresa, have two children. They adopted Etalem and Kordell from the Soddo region of Ethiopia, in August of 2006. His purpose, education, and research converge into his passion for helping the people of Ethiopia through the use of  business as a ministry to the poor; empowering them to operate their own productive activities with dignity.
