Admissions: Financial Aid

Whitworth has established a strong financial aid program to assist students and their families to meet the cost of their education. You don't necessarily have to be in a low-income category to qualify for financial aid. Some students may receive scholarships based upon academic standing, while others receive grants in the form of partial tuition remission, based on their demonstrated need. Need is the difference between what it costs to attend the program and what the student can afford to pay.

Types of Aid Available:

  1. Government sponsored loans and work-study for U.S. citizens. These include Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans, Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and Federal and State Work Study. Awards are determined after submission of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

  2. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree-sponsored aid. These include grants, scholarships, and institutional work study (U.S. Citizens and International students).

  3. Private scholarships. Various businesses, clubs and non-profit organizations offer scholarships to individuals, and many companies offer tuition remission programs for educational pursuits. Please visit your local library or www.fastweb.com for more information about available scholarships.

Master of Business Administration Degree-Sponsored Aid

  • MBA grants, in the form of a percentage of tuition remission, are based upon financial need. The basic formula to determine eligibility for need-based aid is:

EDUCATIONAL COSTS
-EXPECTED FAMILY CONTRIBUTION
=ELIGIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL NEED-BASED AID

For educational costs, please see the Estimated Budget (link to PDF document).

The Financial Aid Committee will determine what the amount of the financial aid award should be and then send a written award notice to the student which shows the type and amounts of aid the student is to receive for the academic year.

  • Scholarships are also available to qualified MBA students and awarded on a competitive basis. They are based upon need and/or academic merit.

  • In addition, Whitworth University provides the opportunity for graduate assistantships and institutional work.study. If you are eligible for institutional work, you have the option of finding a job on campus. If you are interested in doing so, the Student Employment Office will help you to find a position. A job is not guaranteed, however on-campus employment could provide an opportunity to earn up to the amount specified on your award notice.

To Apply

If you are a U.S. citizen, please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

If you are an international student, please submit the MBA Financial Aid Application (PDF) for graduate international student. The document is saved in PDF format and can be viewed with the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat Reader you can download it from Adobe's website.

Submit forms directly to the Office of Financial Aid

None of Whitworth's grants and scholarships need to be repaid and are used solely to cover tuition costs at Whitworth University. If part of your award includes a grant, the grant will be automatically credited to your Whitworth student account at the start of each semester that is indicated on your award.
