Message from the Dean for the 2013-14 Academic Year

Welcome to our community of students, faculty, and staff in the School of Business at Whitworth University. The School of Business is distinctive because our faculty members offer personal instruction, advising, and mentoring to each and every one of our students. The primary vocation of our faculty is to teach. While we do conduct research – most of which can be applied to real-world business – we do not allow our research to get in the way of our providing the best possible learning environment.  Rather, our goal is to work closely with students to prepare them to be successful business leaders, and to assist their transition into the professional world through internships, consulting experiences, and service-learning projects.

The faculty of the SGCM have gained their expertise through both university studies and many years of working for prominent regional, national, and international companies. Their professional experience includes leadership positions with Bank of America, Coldwater Creek, American Express, Hecla Mining Company, Keytronic, Purcell Systems, and the Weyerhaeuser Company. Classes in the SGCM are small, averaging around 15-20 students. Graduates earn degrees in accounting, business management, economics, international business, and marketing.

The SGCM business faculty at Whitworth University is dedicated to your success. We work hard to provide you with relevant opportunities to gain practical experience, assisting you in launching your career. Please give me a call at 509.777.4567 or send me an e-mail if you would like to learn more about how we can help you achieve your academic and professional goals.
