Jennifer Read
Adjunct Professor/Technical Director

Jennifer Read has taught at Whitworth since 2006. She is the university's technical director, and she also serves as its costume designer. She is responsible for the technical track in the theatre major, and she currently teaches Tech Theatre 1 & 2, Mask-Making, Makeup and Costume Construction, and Stage Management. She is currently working on expanding the tech program to include individual design courses in sets, lights and costumes.

Education:
Read received her MFA in theatre, with an emphasis in lighting design, from Florida State University; she earned her B.A. in dramatic arts from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Areas of Specialization/Expertise:
Read has designed sets, sound and makeup for many theatrical productions. They include Antigone (Whitworth), Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (Treasure Valley Community College), Crazy for You (Florida State), Two Gentlemen of Verona (The Virginal Shakespeare Festival), and The Women's Dance Project (Tallahassee Little Theatre).

Read is a member of USITT and is the portfolio review coordinator for the Lighting Commission.
