Program
The certification program includes the following seven classes:
- Three core courses:
- Evangelism and Discipleship
- Administration and Ministry
- Gospel Proclamation or Small-Group Ministry
- Two electives in area of interest and calling.
Examples:
- Children's Ministry
- Youth Ministry
- Adult Ministry
- Urban Ministry
- Cross-cultural Ministry
- History of Missions
- Campus Ministry
- Ministry and the Arts
- Performance and Social Change
- Theatre and Christian Community
- Soul Care through the Stages of Life
- Other approved courses
- A year-long internship in an approved ministry, which includes significant responsibility, careful supervision and mentoring (completed during the junior or senior year)
- Theology of Ministry (a year-long capstone course taken concurrently with the internship)
- Strongly recommended, though not required:
- Introduction to the Christian Faith, Christian Spirituality, or Christian Theology
- New Testament, Paul, Romans, or Shalom Theology
- Religion in America or History of Christianity I or II
- World Religions
