(2000-present)
Assistant Professor of Theology

I have been working to make a difference in what I think is the saddest and most overlooked tragedy in our world – the crisis of HIV/AIDS, particularly in Africa. This has led to the forming of an NGO called Two Tunics. Two Tunics shares God's hope for the HIV crisis by enabling, networking and strengthening community-based partners to expand care and treatment of those affected by HIV/AIDS. This work has been life- changing for me. (Visit us at www.twotunics.org.)

This is my seventh year in partnership with Young Life and Whitworth University as regional trainer (Y.L.) and lecturer in the theology department (Whitworth). This unique role allows me to continue teaching Youth Ministry, Evangelism and Leadership, while still being involved at the ground level in training and oversight of Young Life leaders. It's a great mix for my gifts! This year we have divided the Metro Spokane Area into three different areas, each with its own area director and committee. It's been a lot of work raising up committees, money, and hiring our new directors. But it is well worth it as it provides deeper ownership, more training, and better direction and control at the actual YL club level.

Last summer allowed me the privilege to travel again to Kenya and teach youth ministry at Daystar University. For four weeks, I taught 20 Kenyan youth workers who are struggling with how to present the Good News to young people living on the edge in slums, dealing with the reality of HIV/AIDS, and struggling simply to survive through the day. The reality of the third and fourth worlds forces us to ask the deepest and most profound questions of our faith and its praxis in a broken and perplexing world. I always leave knowing I have learned much more than I ever gave away.

Linda continues as the Young Life area administrator. Lauren has just finished her sophomore year here at Whitworth. Morgan is a cheerleader and is soon to finish up her junior year at Mt. Spokane High School. Clarin is a high-school sophomore who enjoys basketball and piano.
