Whitworth's theology department is noted for its commitment to excellent teaching, strong scholarship and Christian ministry. The theology faculty takes Christian discipleship seriously, which informs and inspires its commitment as teachers, mentors, scholars, and leaders.

Jerry Sittser is the chair of the M.A. in Theology Program. He has taught at Whitworth since 1989. He specializes in the history of Christianity and American religion, though his most popular courses are Introduction to the Christian Faith and Christian Spirituality. He teaches the spirituality class during Jan Term in the isolation and wintry beauty of a camp located in the Cascade Mountain range. More...
