Philosophy The certification program prepares students for entry-level jobs in ministry, much as a teacher-education program or an apprenticeship program prepares graduates for such positions in their fields.
Courses in the program may be applied to requirements toward a major or minor in several departments across campus (e.g., theology, communication studies, sociology), but is not a major or minor in itself.
If students successfully complete all requirements (by earning at least a B- in all courses and receiving an endorsement from their supervisor as well as approval from the director of the program), they are then certified for employment and assisted as they search for jobs. The placement rate is excellent.
