Faculty/Staff Programs: Mentoring Groups

Building upon the natural connections that faculty and staff have with students, the college will equip selected faculty/staff to work with students on a more intentional basis to emphasize themes of Christian spiritual development and vocation.

Mentoring is a natural, on-going part of Whitworth's campus environment. Under a new mentoring program at the college, faculty and staff are asked to pursue a yearly process of group mentoring on the topics of spirituality and vocation.

Faculty/Staff who volunteer for this program commit for one year to mentor groups of four to twelve students. Mentoring includes meetings and meals with students, in addition to monthly lunches for mentors to share and encourage each other.

In order to off-set the cost of hosting student gatherings and purchasing books for reading groups, the mentoring program provides financial support for mentors. This includes adding money to meal cards for faculty/staff to interact with students in the dining hall and Cafe.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, contact Dr. Ron Pyle or Michelle Seefried for more information.
