Weyerhaeuser
Younger Scholar Program
This program is designed to raise the next generation of Christian scholars.
Young scholars work in a one-to-one relationship with faculty on projects
that provide the student a better understanding of what graduate school
will be like. In addition, discussion focuses on elements of graduate
school that might prove challenging for students who have attended Christian
colleges. The year culminates with a conference where students make
formal presentations of their projects.
Presidential Scholars
This program is designed to foster a more specific sense of vocation
around leadership. Students, all in positions of campus leadership,
meet six times at the home of President Bill Robinson to discuss his
book, Leading People from the Middle. This program gives students an opportunity to hear
President Robinson's view of vocation as well as to share their own struggles
with leadership.
Lilly
Research Interns
This program provides funds for four students each year to be trained
in research skills for working with local congregations
in the greater Spokane area. Students are trained in oral history and
sociological analysis; they work with church archival material in the
Whitworth University Library. Contact Dale Soden, Ph.D. or Archivist Janet
Hauck for more information.
