As a collaborative project between the Lilly Vocation Grant and Murdock Lives of Commitment Grant, the Urban Residential Project is designed to involve students and community members in experiential learning in the city of Spokane. The implementation of an urban semester is anticipated for 2003. "The City, the Gospel and Civic Responsibility" This course, taught in conjunction with First Presbyterian Church, launches the Urban Residential Project in 2002. The class will bring together Whitworth students and members of the congregation to discuss issues of service, justice, the role of the church in the city, and the role of government. Participants will gather to discuss readings, share a meal or dessert, and learn from guest speakers. Contact Dr. Julia Stronks for more information.
