2006 Alum is Personal Trainer for PRO Sports Club in Bellevue

Ame Powell, a member of Whitworth's Class of 2006 who graduated with a degree in health, fitness and physical education, is in her first year as a personal trainer for PRO Sports Club, located in Bellevue Wash.  During her senior year at Whitworth, Powell worked as a personal trainer and manager at the Spokane Club. Her position there allowed her to acquire multiple certifications, which added to her experience and made her an attractive candidate for other sports clubs once she graduated.  While she worked at the Spokane Club, Powell also completed an internship in the Scotford Fitness Center at Whitworth University.  There she mentored and instructed junior-level health, fitness and physical education interns.  Kinesiology Department Assistant Professor Todd Sandberg says, “Ame is a confident and highly skilled personal trainer.  During the past two years of her education she sought out opportunities that would enhance her instruction and fitness prescription skills.  She enjoys serving others in every aspect of fitness.”

Powell maintains her certified personal trainer (CPT) and health/fitness instructor (HFI) certifications through the American College of Sports Medicine.  She is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

PRO Sports Club is a world-class fitness facility featuring state of the art fitness, aquatics, free-weight and health centers. At 255,000 square feet, the facility is the largest and most complete health and fitness club in the country.
