SERVE (Students Eager to Respond
to Volunteer Endeavors)
SERVE Mission Statement
SERVE empowers and enables the students of Whitworth University to engage with the Spokane community and to serve humanity.
The SERVE coordinator serves as an advocate of service and social justice on campus by informing students about social justice issues, coordinating opportunities to address those issues, and networking between individuals and groups who are interested.
SERVE acts as a liaison between the Whitworth Center for Service-Learning and the local community to match organizations with student volunteers and provide opportunities for students to participate in both short- and long-term service projects. SERVE's goal is that students will value service and make it a lifelong value and commitment.
Along with Community-Building Day and the Alternative Spring Break Service Trip, each year SERVE also organizes a leftover food drive, to be held during the last five days of school. Students donate unopened food/snacks as they pack up their rooms for the summer. The food is donated to Second Harvest Inland Northwest.
