Science Safety: Think Safety! Act Safely!

In experiments, biological agents, chemicals and physical forces can be used for study in the sciences. It is important not only to plan out your experiment but also to anticipate what can go wrong. In order to minimize accidents, you need to know the hazards involved. Federal and state laws require following safe handling techniques of hazardous materials. They also require that hazardous waste be collected and disposed of in accordance with regulations. Following standard, prudent practices is a good beginning to safe practices. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with you to investigate and follow safe laboratory procedures. This site includes a few resources available to help you plan a safe experiment.
