Home > Sponsored Programs > About Our Office  The Sponsored Programs Office (SPO) was established to professionally assist faculty in obtaining external funding, to support their various creative and scholarly activities, and to provide support for institutional-wide initiatives. In addition to these activities, the SPO also administers the Institutional Review Board and oversees federally required policies on Conflict of Interest, Responsible Conduct in Research, and Misconduct in Science. It is Whitworth policy that all applications for external funding whether federal, state, local or private, be reviewed and approved by the Sponsored Programs Office prior to submission off-campus. The purpose of this policy is not to create an additional level of bureaucracy, but to insure that both the individual grant-seeker and the university are protected in their interaction with external agencies and organizations. |
