Favorite activities in Spokane:
I love to cook (and eat), so I enjoy going to the farms at Green Bluff and to the Spokane Farmers' Market for fresh, organic, local food and handmade items. I am a coffee fanatic, and Spokane has wonderful local coffee roasters and coffee shops. I enjoy music, as well as dance and theater performances. I also attend many college sporting events.
Favorite thing about Whitworth:
This is an incredibly caring and supportive community. As students, you will know your professors; you will know the staff, and you will know each other. Faculty and staff will go out of their way to help you. We offer special support services to international students to help ease the challenges of living and studying abroad. Come visit us in the International Education Center. It is a great place for students to hang out with each other and with those of us who work there – whether you are international or not!
Advice for Whitworth applicants:
If you are from a different country or different education system, applying to a U.S. college or university can be a confusing process for you and your family. I strongly encourage you to ask questions. Don't hesitate to call or e-mail. The more questions I can answer for you, the less stressful the process will be. I am here to help you!
I grew up partly in Europe, in my native Luxembourg, and partly in the U.S., in Boston, Mass. My parents are French and German, and we spoke several languages at home, though not English. I knew no English when my family moved to the U.S. Because of my background, I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. I am also passionate about higher education, the value of study abroad, and helping students to succeed.
