Thank you for your interest in visiting Whitworth!
The following includes information about individual visits, for which we create a schedule based on your needs and interests. If you are interested in our other visit programs, please go to our general visit website to see the available options. If you have any questions after reviewing this information, please contact the campus visit coordinator by phone at 800.533.4668, ext. 1, or by e-mail at visitus@whitworth.edu.
1. What is an individual visit?
- If you come to campus for an individual visit, we will set up a schedule of activities specifically for you. Each visiting student will have a visit schedule with different start and end times and activities.
- Although you may be here for an individual visit, it is likely that your campus tour and admissions presentation will be with other visiting prospective students and their families. With advance notice, we can accommodate individual admissions appointments after the presentation.
- If you are interested in visiting with other prospective students and their families in a large visit program, we recommend the Whitworth Snapshot program or Why Whitworth? days.
- We are not able to accommodate individual visits during the Whitworth Snapshot program or on Why Whitworth? days.
2. What activities do you offer as part of an individual visit?
- Campus Tour
- Your campus tour will be led by a current student and will be about 75 minutes long. This is a walking tour, so please wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
- Admissions Presentation
- The admissions presentation includes information about the admissions process and scholarship opportunities, as well as facts about the university; it is presented by a member of our admissions staff.
- Individual Admissions Appointment
- If you have specific questions related to your admissions to Whitworth, an individual appointment with an admissions staff member is available. This appointment will be scheduled for after the admissions presentation.
- This appointment is not an evaluative interview.
- Class Visit
- The class visit allows you to sit in on an actual class taught by a professor. You will provide the admissions office with your top three academic interests, and the campus visit coordinator will find a class that best fits your interests and visit schedule.
- Due to limited space in our classrooms, parents are not able to visit classes.
- Overnight Stay in a Residence Hall
- This will give you an opportunity to stay overnight in a residence hall with one of our student hosts. This option is not available on Saturday nights. Also, we must limit overnight stays to prospective students only and to one night.
- Most overnight hosts will not have access to an air mattress or sleeping bag, so please be prepared to cover your own sleeping arrangements. It’s likely that you will will be sleeping on the floor. Please bring your own towel and toiletries, as well.
- Professor Appointment (by request only)
- You may request to meet with a professor in the academic department of your choice. Please list this in the “Comments/Special Requests” box at the bottom of the visit request form.
- Please allow extra time in your schedule for us to accommodate your requested appointment.
- Coach Appointment (by request only)
- You may ask to meet with a coach of your chosen sport. Please list this in the “Comments/Special Requests” box at the bottom of the visit request form.
- Please submit an online athletics questionnaire form before your visit. The questionnaires may be accessed by clicking here.
- Please allow extra time in your schedule for us to accommodate your requested appointment.
3. How do I set up an individual visit?
- Please request a visit using the online visit request form. This is our preferred mode of receiving visit requests since it includes helpful information for the visiting student and lists the different options available for each date.
- Please list any special requests/appointments in the “Comments/Special Requests” box at the end of the form.
- If you have any questions about filling out the online request form, please call the campus visit coordinator at 800.533.4668, ext. 1.
4. My parents are coming with me. What activities can they participate in?
- Parents are welcome to join you for the campus tour, presentation and appointments; however, due to limited space in classrooms, we are not aple to accommodate parents’ visits to classes. Parents may dine in our dining hall for $6.55 per person (cash preferred).
- Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate parents overnight on campus. Please visit the local accommodations page for a list of recommended hotels close to our campus. Most of these hotels offer a reduced rate if you let them know that you are visiting Whitworth.
5. Do you provide shuttle transportation?
- We provide shuttle transportation to and from the Spokane International Airport and to/from the bus/train station for students travelling alone. If you require transportation, please include your flight/bus/train information on the visit request form. We do require at least two weeks’ notice for all transportation requests.
We look forward to having you on campus soon!
