International Accident & Sickness Insurance

Summary 2012-13

Because our institution is concerned with the promotion of good health for each student as well as adequate medical health coverage in case of unexpected accidents or illness, we require all interna-itional students to have our health insurance coverage. Coverage cannot be waived.

The mandatory International Insurance Plan provides the following key benefits:

  • It provides a $250,000 Aggregate Accident & Sickness Benefit Limit with $5,000 in basic benefits paid at 100 percent and $250,000 in major medical benefits paid at 80 percent. There is a $25 deductible per visit. The medical limits provided meet USIA requirements. Global medical assistance services are provided through Assist America for medical evacuation and repatriation. $5,000 in AD & D benefits is provided.

  • It is active for currently enrolled international students while they are in the United States. The cost for this plan is $2,023 per academic year plus any applicable student fees.

Please refer to your student brochure for a detailed explanation of these coverages. Current brochures will be available in the Whitworth Student Accounting Services Office, in McEachran Hall, in August.

For more information regarding the coverage provided through Whitworth, please contact Kristiana Holmes at 509.777.4450 in the Whitworth Health & Counseling Services Center. For more information on the international and sickness plan, please see details at www.eiiastudent.org/whitworth.
