While shootings on college campuses are rare occurrences, their consequences are always catastrophic. We have implemented guidance, based on best practices, for responding to an active shooter event. These practices include the basic steps that all community members can take to help them survive such an event. Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to view this 20-minute training video, produced by the Center for Personal Protection & Safety. Shots Fired on Campus outlines the survival steps you can take if you are confronted by an active shooter on campus. We encourage you to invest just a few minutes to learn this valuable information.
This knowledge, combined with your enrollment in the "RAVE" cell-phone/text-message mass-notification system can help you survive an active shooter event. If you have questions about the system, please contact the security supervisor at 509.777.3712.
