Financial Aid for Endorsement-Only Students
Students who are not admitted into a master's-degree program and who are in the classroom pursuing endorsements in education that are necessary for teaching can now receive Federal Direct Stafford Loans to assist them with program costs.
To be considered for a Federal Direct Stafford Loan, a student must:
- be fully admitted into an endorsement program at Whitworth.
- have completed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA); this can be done online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Be sure to list Whitworth as the school to receive your information. Our school code is 003804.
- be attending at least half-time (enrolled in at least six credits; graduate or undergraduate courses)*.
- have remaining Stafford Loan eligibility as an undergraduate student. The maximum a student can borrow on the Stafford Loan Program (both subsidized and unsubsidized) is $57,500. Students can visit the NSLDS website to view their Stafford Loan balances.
- not be in default on any federal student loans or in repayment on any federal financial-aid grants.
- complete the necessary online processes for the Federal Direct Stafford Loan Program. These processes will be disclosed to the student when the financial-aid office sends the financial-aid award.
*A student taking graduate-level endorsement courses is not automatically considered a graduate student. A student who is completing an endorsement as part of a Whitworth graduate program will be considered a graduate student as long as the student has been admitted into a Whitworth graduate program and is working towards a graduate degree. Half-time status for graduate students is three credits. Half-time students are eligible for graduate-level Stafford Loans. |
