After-Hours Care

How do you access care when the Whitworth Health Center is closed?

  • If the situation is a major emergency, (life-threatening) call 911 regardless of the time of day.
For after-hours care due to illness or minor emergency, we recommend the following:
  • Contact your medic (click here for contact information). If s/he is not available, try the Medic-On-Call cell phone (509) 879-3497. Medics are trained to help you evaluate your condition and decide upon appropriate follow-up or appropriate off-campus care.

  • We have a formal agreement with Rockwood North Clinic (located at N. 9001 Country Homes Blvd.) for minor-emergency care. It is a walk-in clinic, open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The phone number for Rockwood North Clinic is (509) 744-1710.

  • If Rockwood Clinic North is closed or if you choose to go directly to the ER, we recommend you go to Holy Family Emergency Room, one block east of Division behind the Franklin Park Mall. When coming from the north, turn left on Central and right on Lidgerwood. Signs are posted and the emergency room is open 24 hours a day.

Be sure you have insurance cards with you. The student insurance brochure has a card attached. Some insurance companies require preauthorization for non-life-threatening situations; read your primary insurance card carefully and call if needed.
