As the network manager at Whitworth since 1997, Walt is responsible for the network software and accounts for both staff and students. He also manages the interface between the systems and our network provider as well as ensuring system security through file protection and routers.

Walt received his master of science degree from the University of Illinois.

From 1974 to 1994 he was in the Navy where he served as an aviation Anti-submarine warfare operator, navigator, mission commander, and instructor. He finished his 20-year Navy career teaching mathematics at West Point Military Academy for the Army. From 1995 to 1997 Walt was a visiting professor at Whitworth, where he taught mathematics. Currently, he is an adjunct professor teaching statistics and computer science.

Walt is a volunteer firefighter, captain, and EMT for Spokane Fire District #4. His wife, Kay, is a teacher with the Deer Park Elementary School District. They enjoy camping and snow skiing.
