Multi-Grammy-nominated alto saxophonist Kenny Garrett performed with the award-winning Whitworth Jazz Ensemble Nov. 5. Garrett, who has appeared with a varied slate of musical giants including Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Peter Gabriel, Woody Shaw and Sting, has recorded 12 albums. His performance at Whitworth featured an electrifying fusion of international influences and other musical genres. In addition to "blowing the roof off the joint" (as President Bill Robinson says), at the Saturday-evening performance, Garrett conducted a clinic for Whitworth students and the general public.
