Mary (Koper) Chaffee, '40, died Nov. 30. Robert Chatterton, '46, died Nov. 15. He was a captain in the Army Signal Corps during World War II and was later employed for 28 years at First Hawaiian Bank in Honolulu, where he retired in 1976 as a senior vice president. He is survived by two daughters, a stepson, and three nephews. Marietta (Billesbach) Blachly, '46, died Dec. 14. Following her graduation from Whitworth and Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, she served in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base, in California, and in Goose Bay, Labrador. She is survived by a son, one sister, and several cousins. Jack LaRose, '49, died Sept. 13. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. For 43 years, he worked as a chemist for the Federal Drug Administration. He is survived by a son and daughter, three brothers, one sister, and two grandchildren. Virginia (Taylor) Klaus, '49, died Nov. 11. After working several years for Standard Oil Co., in Duluth and Minneapolis, Minn., she married Walter Klaus in 1968, making her home in Empire City, Minn., until her retirement. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, and two granddaughters.
