Edith Eger, Ph.D., Holocaust survivor and nationally recognized psychologist, author and speaker, captivates a large audience at Whitworth during one of her two recent on-campus lectures on reconciliation. Eger visited as part of Reconciliation Week, sponsored by the Murdock Lives of Commitment Program. She spoke to more than 2,200 people, including military veterans and victims of domestic violence as well as area high-school and college students. "Eger kept her own story of the Holocaust to herself for more than two decades, and then she realized that she had to speak about that which is so painful to remember," says Ginny Whitehouse, associate professor of communication studies. "By sharing her story and her wisdom, she gave of herself completely."
