Jess Walter

Local Boy Makes Good

Spokane native Jess Walter, an awardwinning author and a "ridiculously talented writer," according to The New York Times, signs an autograph for a Whitworth fan during a recent visit to the college. Walter spoke to an appreciative audience about "Fiction Writing and Other Personality Disorders." His novel The Zero won the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Award and was a National Book Award finalist. His Citizen Vince earned him the Edgar Award for best novel, and Every Knee Shall Bow (re-released as Ruby Ridge) was a finalist for the PEN Center West Literary Nonfiction Award. Walter is a career journalist whose work has appeared in Details, Newsweek, The Washington Post and The Boston Globe.
