Simpson-Duvall Lecturer Quintard Taylor, Jr., spoke at Whitworth this spring about the influence of African Americans on the growth of the Pacific Northwest. Taylor is the Scott and Dorothy Bullitt Professor of American History at the University of Washington and the author of numerous articles and books about African-American history in the American West. His book In Search of the Racial Frontier: African American West, 1528-1990, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in history.
