Nadine Chapman, associate professor of English, died in July after a four-year battle with ovarian cancer. Chapman was an accomplished poet, author and teacher who said that teaching at Whitworth was the highlight of her life. "Nadine was a gentle, quiet person," says Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Michael Le Roy, '89, "but there was nothing shy about her devotion to Christ and her love of her family, friends, students and colleagues. We will miss her, and we grieve her loss to our community." A memorial service was held on campus in September to allow the Whitworth community to say farewell to Chapman, who is survived by her husband, John, and their four children.
