Degree Requirements

This web page contains the most current academic information and degree requirements available. The graduation requirements published in the Whitworth catalog in effect at the time of the student's initial enrollment are those that should be met for completion of an undergraduate-degree program (Click here to view printed catalogs). Students who withdraw from Whitworth and return after an absence of more than one year must meet the graduation requirements in effect at the time of their return; students who return within one year may continue under the requirements in effect at their original enrollment.

Requirements for Athletic Training Major, B.S. (56)

This is a limited-enrollment major. Applicants for admission to the athletic-training major are evaluated on the following criteria:

1. cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
2. completion of KIN 270 and KIN 271 with a grade of at least a "B" in each course
3. formal application
4. submission of two letters of recommendation
5. ability to work effectively with others
6. primary focus in athletic training
7. interview (if necessary)

Students are required to complete a minimum of one writing-intensive course ("W") within their major. Athletic training required courses currently meeting that requirement are: HS 320, KIN 322, HS 326, AT 333, AT 334, AT 335, AT 336, HS 362, and HS 433. A grade of "C" or higher in all major required courses is required for athletic training majors.  

Requirements for the Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, B.S. (126)
126 semester credits, including the 98 credits of prerequisite and nursing courses. Completion of Whitworth's general graduation requirements. Oral communication, modern language, and Core 250 or 350 are waived for nursing majors. Global perspectives will be met by NU courses through WSU
