Cowles Memorial Auditorium
Named in honor of Spokane publisher William H. Cowles, Sr., the auditorium,
constructed in 1955 and refurbished in 1995, seats 1,100 people. Theatre,
dance and music performances, as well as lectures, take place in the auditorium
throughout the year.
Dixon Hall
Dixon Hall, completely remodeled and updated in 2000, currently serves
as one of the university's main classroom buildings and is also home to the
School of Education and psychology department.
Fine Arts
The Fine Arts Building has long been the campus center for math and art.
This building features three large classrooms and available art lab space.
Hawthorne Hall
This former elementary school contains seven classrooms with expansive floorplans, changeable room set-ups and current technology.
Hixson Union Building
The HUB has five rooms available for meetings:
Conference Rooms ABC: This room is ideal for medium-sized meetings. The room can be arranged in a variety of fashions and is capable of accommodating up to 120 people. Buffet tables set up in the hallway allow groups to eat and meet with plenty of room. Partitions can be closed between the three rooms to make the most out of a meeting experience. Conference Room B (the middle room) features a white board and overhead projector.
Catering Rooms: Great for events with speakers and a meal, the Catering Rooms have the ability to accommodate between 50-68 people. Partitions can be closed between the two joining rooms to create a cozier environment. The room features two buffet tables and a beverage table.
Multipurpose Room: While offering a beautiful
view of the Whitworth campus, this room accommodates larger groups of
up to 150. It features a dance floor as well as sliding glass doors
that separate your gathering from the hustle and bustle of the HUB.
Dining Hall: Our largest meeting space on campus is ideal for events such as receptions and banquets for 250+ guests. The focal point of the room is a stunning 20-foot stained glass window.
George's Place: For smaller meetings of 15 or less, George's Place is a great location. Limited catering service is available in this room, and couches add to an intimate setting.
Library Classroom
Located in the Cowles Memorial Library, the Library Classroom offers a wide range of technology, including a computer/DVD player, a LCD player, a VCR, an overhead projector and a screen. The room can comfortably seat 29 people at tables with room for additional seating at the perimeter. The room also has two whiteboards, a table podium and a standing podium.
Lounges
Each residence hall on campus has a lounge which can be reserved for meetings and gatherings.
Music Recital Hall
The Music Recital Hall holds 120 people and boasts a beautiful, concert-quality baby grand piano. The room has a simple sound system (comprised of one microphone) that can be requested for use.
Stage II
Stage II is a traditional theatre "Black Box" that seats approximately
130. Seating is on raked platforms in a horseshoe shape around a black,
tiled floor. Whiteboards and VCR are available. There are both men's and
women's bathrooms nearby.
Seeley G. Mudd Chapel
The Seeley G. Mudd Chapel has long been the center for campus worship
and praise. The front of the room features a beautiful stained glass cross.
The sanctuary can comfortably seat 250-300 people. The chapel features
a state-of-the-art LCD player and sound system, available for use upon
request.
Weyerhaeuser
Located at the center of campus, on The Loop, Weyerhaeuser Hall is an
academic center for the university. This facility houses seven classrooms,
two computer labs and a conference room all with state-of-the-art technology
and amenities.This new facility is home to the School of Global Commerce
and Management and the departments of politics and history and sociology.
Athletic Facilities
Athletic Fields: The newest addition
to the list of athletic facilities, the Softball/Soccer Complex, offers
the highest quality athletic fields. The complex includes a complete
softball field with in-ground dugouts, batting cages and bleachers.
The soccer field is international-regulation size with an adjacent practice
annex.
Located behind the Fieldhouse, Merkel Field is home to the Whitworth baseball team. A beautiful setting for a sunny spring day of baseball, the facility has undergone several recent upgrades. Bleachers have been added and reconstructed to include seats immediately behind home plate.
Pine Bowl: First used in the late 1930s,
the Whitworth Pine Bowl has been home to Pirate football, soccer and
track teams for over 60 years. Majestically surrounded by beautiful
evergreens, the Pine Bowl has a seating capacity of 2,200. The tartan
surface is first-class and has been host to numerous university, high school
and youth track meets.
Whitworth Fieldhouse: The home of Whitworth
basketball and volleyball, the fieldhouse is a spacious, multi-purpose
facility with a seating capacity of 1,500. In the winter, baseball,
softball and track and field use the facility for practice. Movable
bleachers were installed at the beginning of 2002.
Aquatics Center: Completed in the spring of 1984, the Whitworth Aquatics Center hosts the Pirate swimming teams. The pool is a six-lane, 40-yard course with a movable bulkhead, designed to allow for a deep-water racing course.
Ross Cutter Tennis Courts: The Ross Cutter tennis courts are six regulation-size tennis courts. Please reserve the tennis courts ahead of time on the pre-arrival worksheet.
Graves Gym: This gym features a full size basketball court on the ground floor, complete with bleachers. Located in the basement are the athletic weight rooms and locker rooms.
